Treatment for my music video

My music video is going to based on the narrative of the lyrics in the song; which is about a girl singing about her past relationship with her ex boyfriend. Therefore, I am going to portray the lyrics literally and plan a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals. I plan to use a variety of setting in my music video. Due to my target audience being predominantly students, they are usually interested in music, going to gigs and drinking. In addition I plan for the band to perform in a garage as this is more realistic as this is the type of life styles many students may live, in particular students who enjoy gigging, drinking and partying. As well as being a perfomrance based video, my music video will also be narrative based and will be filmed in a house as this is a everyday setting many students can relate to. This may appeal to the audience as they may have gone through a similar experience of going through a bad relationship and may be able to relate to the lyrics and visuals. Therefore these settings contote to the indie genre. I also wanted a quirky/unique setting in my music video so I plan to use a the road for a setting where the girl is singing about her ex and to show her fun side, also this setting has no cost and is easy to access. The outfit she will be wearing in this setting will completely juxtapose to where she is; which creates an interesting feel to the music video. I have also planned to film at a park or on a field, here I may set up my band to give a quirky look to the band and also I will film the happy scenes of the girlfriend and boyfriend and then film the girl on her own there to represent their breakup. I also plan to use a glamerous setting. I feel that my music video will appeal to my target audience as I am including a story line in it; which many people will be able to realte to and the settings are all places which they will be familiar with. Therefore, even if they are not able to relate to the lyrics they will be able to relate to the settings and may be imagine what the lyrics are about. Due to the setting not being of high cost, this will also make the music video more realistic and make it easier to portray the lyrics in the song in a realistic way. I will also include camera shots which will be conventions of the indie genre. These shots will include: close-ups,extreme close ups, long shots, establishing shots etc. The close up shots will be of the lead female singer to attract the audience and show her beauty. Therefore this will attarct the male and female audience as the male audience will be attracted to her and want to be with her; while the female audience will envy her. This will create a strong identity for the unsigned band as there will also be long shots and mid shots of the band. The location shots will show the narrative and setting, allowing the audience to feel involved in the story. What the band wears in the video will also be key as this will show current trends within the indie genre, which will be accessable to the target audience, therefore this means the band could make merchandise and the audience would buy it due to wanting to look like them. I will film in different stages, I will have one day to film in each different setting. This will allow me to be prepared and get all my props and band together ready to film.
