The title 'Humbug' has been positioned at the top in the left hand corner of the front album cover. However it is not part of the actual image as it is actually a sticker that looks like it has been placed there. The font is simple but bold; which makes it sound out in front of the background image.
The bands name is written in large black writing over a white hoodie, in order to stand out and grab the audiences attention due to black and white contrasting against each other. The font used is quite quirky, which creates the image that the band is quirky as they are an indie band. The mise-en-scene of the image used reinforces the fact that the band due to the style of clothing they are wearing (retro/indie) such as dark jeans and denim jackets. Also their hair is styled to suit the genre. There is also a retro feeling to the cover due to the colouring/filter and the picture being quite faded, making it look quite old and dated.
The typography used on the back cover for the bands name is quite wild and crazy and doesn't follow through from the front cover, this could create the perception that the band is quite wild and crazy. This would appeal to their target audience as it highlights that they are ordinary people and like having fun; which is easy to relate to as their target audience would be older teenagers. The album cover has no image on the back, making the text 'arctic monkeys and humbug' stand out and easy to read due to the background being a plain block colour. Moreover the album name and band are also written on the back colour which is in a similar font to the front colour. This is quite unique compared to other digipaks as usually there is a picture on the back and the name of the band and album isn't followed through to the back. The spine also has the bands name written on it in a simple font. The colour scheme of neutral colours and burgundy is also followed throughout the digipak, therefore this is to make it more appealing to the consumers eyes. The back cover also has a bar code which is seen on every back cover. There is also a track listing of the songs on the back cover; which is not organised numerically but are still organised in a simple clear manner, the font used for the tracklist is the same font used for the album which creates a sense of coherence and consistency. Also on the back of the album it contains all of the conventional information, for example it has their record companies logo and their band website details; which is what most albums have on the digipaks.
The CD inside has been designed to look like a pie and has the letters 'A' and 'M' diagonally placed to stand for 'Arctic Monkeys'. This CD has a comic element as it's not connected to the album front cover or back cover; which is unusual.
