Record label

When considering a record label to represent and produce my media products, I first started to research into well known and used record labels as when securing a record label in the real world it was be a vital step in order to have a successful music launch and commercial success.

In addition I decided to chose the record label: Rough Trade, this record label was established in 1978, therefore it has plenty of experience with music success. It also focus' on the indie, indie\pop genre; which is the genre of the song I have chosen. The founder of the label, Geoff Travis successfully promoted and sold records by a number of punk, early indie pop and early post punk bands such as: The Smiths and Buzzcocks. At the time Travis was also operating a record shop off Ladbroke Grove in London by the same name. In the late 90s with bands like the Libertines, The Strokes and Antony and the Johnsons, Travis was able to restructure the label and as a result it still remains very active today. Rough Trade currently represents a deep pool of highly regarded indie and rock acts including Alabama Shakes, Arcade Fire, Destroyer, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, My Morning Jacket, Sufjan Stevens, The Hold Steady, The Libertines and The Strokes.

Therefore, I decided to chose this label as in real life I believe this label would of been good for the band.
